Natti Katz suggested an idea (#5183) · Aug 03, 2020 at 07:39 AM · cloudshellcloudshell portalinstructions pane
Hi, a spin off of this idea to control the Instructions width.
https://community.quali.com/content/idea/161/instruction-panel-width-control-request
Allow user to set full screen width as a boolean option.
OR
To allow passing percentage widths instead of pixels, then users can be free to set 100%, 50% etc. This will have the benefit of being more responsive than pixel values as well for different screen sizes.
This approach is currently possible with custom css, but would be nice to have it supported officially with a portal server key.
Thanks,
Natti

Another good option would be to open the instructions as a new window or a tab in the browser.

There are actually some complications with the custom responsive CSS approach as it affects ALL the left side panel tabs including Resource Search and Apps drawer.
The target rule needs to target the PARENT left side container only when the child instructions container is active.
It is impossible in CSS to target parent elements based on child elements. This kind of targetting is only possible with Javascript. It would be best to add this logic to the Angular UI controller and expose as a productized server key.
Thanks,
Natti

We had done some implementations with the CSS approach and we have it working nicely. Reach out if you desire more information.
