Maarten Juffermans suggested an idea (#4386) · Feb 25, 2019 at 09:04 AM · shellabstract resourceConnectivity
We use physical connections modeled onto our resources (added with API call UpdatePhysicalConnection). We do all selection using abstracts, filtering on attributes. Version 8.0 for the moment.
This request concerns a client-server type selection such as Cable modems connected to a CMTS, physical shelf/racks connected to an RF Switch, or video clients connected to a video server.
Assuming for instance a large number of clients physically connected to a multitude of servers, I would like to be able to:
A) Use one abstract for the client selection with a selection of the amount of clients - a quantity field that is published
B) Use an abstract for the server and select it based on some attribute values.
C) Therefore have the amount of physical connections between the two abstracts open as well, as it is equal to the amount of clients requested.
The functionality is almost there in the UI, I think there is even a hint on the connection screen about this:
"Note: abstract resources with a requested quantity greater than 1 are not displayed."
To be clear, to get this functionality working in practice, we now have to make one blueprint for each quantity. So one blueprint with 1 abstract client and 1 abstract server, one blueprint with 2 abstract clients and 1 abstract server, etc.

Hi, not sure i understand how this functionality would work.
you want to have 1 abstract with a fixed quantity with n ports
Another abstract with a dynamic (n) quantity and and a single port and be able to connect the two abstracts together n times ?
