Matthew Rutland suggested an idea (#1979) · Sep 06, 2017 at 06:39 PM · job schedulingportal
when adding a user password as a variable for input on test suite, no method to encrypt user provided password is provided, causing only cleartext to be seen. this relates to test suite in job scheduling where user needs to provide site specific data such as windows password to do certain functions in test.

I guess this is common for any input in CloudShell portal, we do not have easy way to handle secret inputs

Hi , thanks for the idea. Could you please clarify, in your case, why the user needs to enter the password, and it is not kept within the resource in the blueprint as a password attribute? Thanks
Hi,
In this specific case, the end user needs to provide windows password to perform a privileged operation (map a network drive) within a test. While it is possible to maintain the credentials within (as resources) or outside cloudshell (as CSV or similar), in this case, it may not be practical. Reason - a) number of users and b) the IT security forcing password change every once in 30/60 days.
Thanks,
Sadanand
Hi @Sadanand.S, so when the user enters the input for the test suite, which is passed to a password variable, you would like him to to see asterisks as he enters the input (***) and not clear text?

Hi, I'm happy to update that this idea is planned for the next CloudShell release (8.3).
